Paul Frankl Designed Dining Rm Table and chairs Early 1950 Don't miss perhaps this once in a lifetime opportunity to own furniture directly produced under the watchful eye of the iconic designer, Paul T. Frankl. This famed Austrian born designer (1886-1958) is noted as one of the founding fathers of the modernistic movement in America. He created his own distinctive "Skycraper" line of wood furniture and designed a "puzzle desk" (circa 1925) that sold for $11,500. at Sotheby's in 2007 and a zebra hide chair (circa 1930) that auctioned for $230,500 in May 2008. You now have a rare opportunity to own a piece of art history. Frankl designed production furniture for the Johnson Furniture Co. in the early 1950's. He experimented with unique pieces and biomorphic designs that would be available to a wider audience. He incorporated exotic veneers such as the cork on this table to insure truly one-of-a kind pieces. The numbering system on this furniture indicated it is a complementing set. The table is marked Johnson Furniture Co. 1013-170 #31 and chairs are marked #1014-170. There is minor reparable veneere damage on side of table edge. Chairs have an elegant style that is matched to the cool radius of the table legs. The unique cork veneer dining room table has three leaves for total dimensions of 99 inch by 42 inch (custom made table pads included).
